The Beardsley Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and works in partnerships with several captive breeding programs and Species Survival Plans. It cares for multiple endangered species such as the Canadian lynx, Brazilian ocelots, red wolves, Amur leopards, Mexican wolves, giant anteaters, and golden lion tamarins among many other species.

The Zoo also breeds Amur tiger cubs in captivity. Amur tigers are an endangered species thanks to deforestation and other threats to their habitat. In 2018, they even had a tiger cub cam where you could watch the newly born cubs play from 8am-8pm every day.
The Zoo’s commitment to helping endangered species thrive is their primary focus. By providing education, research, and outreach to the public, they are on their way to helping many of these exotic animals increase in number both in captivity and in the wild.
